overcast, BNSF switchers 2100/GP38-2 and 2880/GP39M, 1:30pm...14 Feb, 2016

It is Sunday and BNSF switchers 2100/GP38-2, built 11/1974 and 2880/GP39M, built 12/1964, are silent and stationary on the main track between Second St and First St., Sumas, WA.  The small white building between the switchers and the right hand string of empty lumber cars is at the international boundary.  Most of the mountains in Canada are obscured by clouds today.  This picture taken from just E of the X'ing on Third St.
picture B, looking NNE
This picture is taken from the X'ing on Third St.  The beige building with a dark brown roof is the Sumas Post Office.  The grey buildings between the Post Office and the lumber cars house vehicles and materials belonging to the City of Sumas Works Dept.  All 'as built' dates for locomotives are supplied from rrpicturearchives.net, a wonderful railfan resource.
A big Hello to my new blog visitors from Romania, India and China!  Thanks for visiting Railfan in Sumas, WA, a visual diary of rail transport in my community.
