BNSF engines 2091/GP38-2, built 11/1974 and 2000/GP38-2, built 7/1967, (hooked up to two lumber cars and a reefer) stationary and idling on the main track just S of Front St., Sumas, WA.  'Sumas Drugs' (a local business with a lengthy history in our community) can be seen just to the right of the white refrigerated boxcar at the end of the consist.  The mountains in the background are in Canada.

sunny, BNSF switchers 2091/GP38-2 and 2000/GP38-2 split, plus 10 car consist, 10am...25 Nov, 2015

BNSF engine 2000/GP38-2, built 7/1967 on a beautiful November day, rolling N on the spur, W of the main track, approaching the X'ing at Bowen Rd,, 1/4 mile S of Sumas, WA.  These pictures taken from HWY 9.  This is an interesting train with one switcher in the lead and another further down the short consist.  The hoppers, lumber cars and double bulk carriers (for urban refuse from B.C bound for Oregon) were to service three different customers located in the Sumas Industrial Park up the spur.

The BNSF road/rail capable truck 28101 was parked on the south side of the X'ing. This picture taken on HWY 9 at the BNSF X'ing just past 'the Curve' 1 mile S of Sumas, WA.  The ridge in the foreground is Vedder Mountain.  The tall mountain in the background (with a bit of new snow) is Black Mountain.  I was thankful for this vehicle of interest as there were no engines present in Sumas today.

A 6 year old, CRYO-TRANS car (72' Mechanical Refrigerated Boxcar) CRYX 5506 with multiple graffiti.  This picture taken on the BNSF siding between First and Second Sts., Sumas, WA.  The owner of this car, the MHW Group from Reisterstown, MD reports 99 of the 5500 series as a portion of it's current fleet.  The dark blue mountain on the right is Sumas Mtn. Our local volcano, Mt. Baker, (covered in fresh snow) is on the horizon
