sunny, BNSF engines 2651/GP39-3, 2291/GP38-2 and slug 340, 10:30am...10 Mar, 2016

BNSF engines 2651/GP39-3, built 6/1965, 2291/GP38-2, built 8/1974 and slug 340/GP60B, built 7/1991, idling and stationary, 'on the curve' one mile S of Sumas, WA.  2651 and 2291 have been the switchers in Sumas since 1 March and are on their way back down S while others are being rotated in.  The mountains in the background are in Canada.

BNSF road only capable truck 23244 (others can be seen in my earlier posts of 19, 24 Nov and 2, 16, 19 Dec, 2015/23 Jan and 18, 29 Feb, 2016) parked next to maintenance-of-way equipment just S of Front St., Sumas, WA.  In the background can be seen the main track in town.  On this spot, as shown in the historical Sanborn Fire Insurance map of Sumas from 1914, is indicated a turntable for the steam engines used in that earlier era.
